COMEDIANS OF THE WORLD.

Somewhere in the Mexican town of San Miguel Allende you could find this painting, which was donated by Mario Moreno Foundation to the National Association of Actors in 1993. The painting by Antonio Navarrete was created many years before and it features Buster Keaton playing the harp, Red Skelton, guitar, Danny Kaye, violin, Bob Hope, guitar, Charles Chaplin, conductor, Cantinflas, guitar, Fernandel, trumpet, Luis Sandrini, french horn and Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy at the vibraphone.
Try to Google it and you'll find zilch!

FAREWELL, SIR SEAN CONNERY...

The news today were devastating...Sean Connery has passed away at age 90. The obituaries and tribute stories are pouring in. Sean Connery became my boyhood idol ever since I saw him in DR. NO and his portrayal of agent 007 proved to be the definitive template for the series. But Connery's achievements didn't stop there. He was a consummate actor who turned out many unforgettable portrayals in now classic films like MARNIE, WOMAN OF STRAW, THE HILL, THE ANDERSON TAPES, THE OFFENCE, MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, THE WIND AND THE LION, THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING, ROBIN AND MARIAN, THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY, OUTLAND, TIME BANDITS, HIGHLANDER, THE UNTOUCHABLES, INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, THE ROCK, ENTRAPMENT, FINDING FORRESTER, among many others.  His credits, according to IMDb, number 68.  Sean Connery

MY TEN MOST-WATCHED FILMS

I've seen quite a lot of films during my 69 years of life but just a chosen few have been revisited by me over and over again for different reasons.  This here is a list of the first 10 films I know I have seen more than a 100 times, although there are more than 50 in my complete most-watched checklist. The question people may ask about this is: why watch a film over and over again when you've already seen it and know every scene by heart? Isn't once enough?
If you have your own MOST-WATCHED FILMS tally, then you know the answer!

And without any further explanation, here we go:

THUNDERBALL (1965)

BULLITT (1968)

GOLDFINGER (1964)

THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI (1957)

CASABLANCA (1943)

THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING (1975)

THE GREAT ESCAPE (1963)

WAY OUT WEST (1937)

THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE (1948)

CHARADE (1963)

I'll post 10 more in a later chapter.

DAVID JANSSEN (1931-1980)

David Janssen was an American actor who became world-famous when he starred in the TV series THE FUGITIVE (1963-67). He was also the star of three other TV series: Richard Diamond, Private Eye (1957-60), O'Hara U.S. Treasury (1971-72) and Harry-O (1974-76).
He appeared in several hit films: The Green Berets (1968), The Shoes of the Fisherman (1968), Marooned (1969), Macho Callahan (1970) and Once Is Not Enough (1975).
While Janssen appeared in many TV series, Made-For-TV films and big screen motion pictures, he will always be remembered as Dr. Richard Kimble, the man wrongly accused of killing his wife. The story of Dr. Kimble and his pursuit of the one-armed man he saw running away from the crime scene, captured the imagination and interest of millions of viewers in the 1960s.
The final two-part episode, held the record for the highest number of viewers in August 1967,  at 75%, who tuned in to watch Kimble catch the real killer and thus, prove his innocence.
Janssen was one of my favorite TV stars and I was deeply saddened when he died at the very early age of 48, from a massive heart attack on February 13, 1980.
The Fugitive is still available on DVD and Janssen continues to thrill viewers with his desperate quest of clearing his name, running all over the United States and trying to escape the relentless pursuit of Lt. Gerard (Barry Morse).

Happy 87th Birthday, Sir Sean Connery!

Born August 25th, 1930 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
After more than 50 years, Sean Connery is still the James Bond all later actors try to become on-screen! He starred as 007 in seven films and his career soared after he left the role in 1983. Films like DARBY O'GILL AND THE LITTLE PEOPLE, MARNIE, THE HILL, A FINE MADNESS, THE ANDERSON TAPES, THE OFFENCE, THE WIND AND THE LION, THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING, THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY, OUTLAND, THE NAME OF THE ROSE, HIGHLANDER, THE UNTOUCHABLES (for which he won the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 1987), INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, JUST CAUSE, THE ROCK, RISING SUN, ENTRAPMENT, and FINDING FORRESTER, were among his greatest hits but he will always be remembered mainly for his seven classic outings as secret agent 007, which are regarded by many fans as the best Bond films ever!

For the record, his Bond films were:
DR. NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, GOLDFINGER, THUNDERBALL, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER and NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN!
Long Live Sir Sean Connery!
