THOSE GOLDEN DAYS OF YESTERYEAR!

What with Children's Day coming up this next Sunday 30th, I thought it would be somewhat relevant to review some of my old, old photos from way back when I was a little tyke, full of energy and mischief!

THE COWBOY OUTFIT!
Yeah! Back in those days I loved anything pertaining to cowboys...like most any other
kid my age.

These are the same pair of boots I wore in the first picture above. Clearly, boots look much better when worn with long pants!   Here, I was walking around my old neighborhood when it was easy to find many vacant lots everywhere. Today, there are exactly zero.

My MOTHER AND ME.
I seem to be just a few months old so I don't remember anything about this.

Me and my baby stroller. It may look rather archaic but it fulfilled its purpose which was to move me around and keep me from wandering about. (The wheel had already been invented, so it was a good thing!)

My mom, one of my sisters and I, posing in a park. Please bear in mind I didn't choose my outfit!

Every kid, from generation to generation, has had a big ball to play with and I was no exception.

THE BUNNY COSTUME
The less said about this image, the better.  Guess it must have been Easter.

I seem to be in some kind of prairie setting here, so this must be a Sunday picnic photo.

Playing Peter Pan with my sister Silvia. I didn't have a Captain Hook costume so I played in plain clothes.
(Sadly, Silvia passed on in 1998 due to a brain aneurysm two months before her 40th birthday.)

And that's all there is for now, so I'm closing this early chapter of my life.
Happy Children's Day!

MY WORST TRIP EVER! - (Revisiting an old Nightmare)

I have many wonderful and unforgettable memories from great trips I've made during my lifetime but, unfortunately, I cannot shake from my memory the very worst trip I ever took which happened exactly six years ago, back in November of 2016.

SERENITY NOW!
Seven horrible days in Los Angeles and San Diego with my father.
The old man hogged the driving wheel during the entire trip even though he could barely drive because of his old age and he flatly refused to go anywhere else but the cheapie 99 cent stores where he would stay hours and hours, going slowly aisle by aisle while I just stood there, like a wax figure, motionless and unable to do anything.
The happiest moment came when I realized the end of the torture was coming near!
I never took a trip with him ever again. Mercifully, he died in 2018.

Family Birthday Celebration!

Another year, another birthday for my one and only son, Ricardo! Many happy returns, kid! Wishing you all the best in this, your 49th anniversary on earth!

YESTERDAY, LOVE WAS SUCH AN EASY GAME TO PLAY!

On tour in Guadalajara with actress Irlanda Mora and an unidentified girl, many, many, many years ago! We were appearing with a comedy play in a local night club and we were taping some promo footage for local TV channels to advertise the show.
This photo also proves I've met some women in my time!

TWA Photo Booth, 2022

The day I arrived at JFK to visit my son and his family in Hoboken, NJ, and the day I left. (With my son Ricardo by my side, as always!)

FRANK SINATRA (1915-1998)

22 years ago, on May 14 1998, the world lost FRANK SINATRA.
However, his voice and his talent will remain from here to eternity!

Listen to Frank singing one of my favorite Sinatra songs on his TV special
 "The Man and His Music"!

MY 50th ANNIVERSARY!

It was 50 years ago, on April, 1970, that I began my career as a professional cartoonist. My first printed comic strips appeared on the April issue of  LA GARRAPATA, a well-known political satire magazine at that time and thus began my meteoric rise from absolute obscurity to complete mediocrity!

Okay, so those first strips were not very good, but I didn't give up in spite of popular demand to the contrary and here I am, fifty years later, still trying to do as best as I can.
In those early days, I was lucky enough to find some charitable editors who saw some possibilities in my work and hired me to continue my journey as a cartoonist.

These are some samples of those first years when I tackled whatever came my way:
